Meet Natalie: Birth Doula & HypnoBirthing Teacher in Brighton & Hove
Welcome, and thank you for landing here. Here's a little more about me.
After living in New York, Beijing and London in my 20s, working for various tech start-ups and meeting inspiring people from various cultures, I started to (re)discover my passion in this life. My purpose has always been centred around connection, education and support. Coupled with my lifelong admiration and respect for pregnancy, birth and the early postpartum period, I soon realised that the field of birth work was my true calling.
In 2013, I attended my first doula training with Liliana Lammers and the famous French obstetrician Michel Odent. In this training, my doula “fire” was ignited. I learned that birth isn’t just about the birth of a baby, but the birth of a mother, of a father, of a community and of a culture. Michel Odent has a famous saying, which is “to change the world, we must first change the way babies are being born”. When we start to trust what the body can do, we can avoid disturbing a birthing person unnecessarily.
What five years in Amsterdam taught me
For five years (2020-2025), I worked in Amsterdam as a birth doula, childbirth educator, breastfeeding specialist and HypnoBirthing teacher, supporting local and international families throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
In the Netherlands, pregnancy is treated as a natural process and physiological birth is the starting point for most women. Care is personal and compassionate, and nothing is done by default: medical interventions have a reason, and are explained in detail to women. When a medical route is needed, it's offered with the same kindness, and I supported many births that took that path as well.
I've brought this approach home to Brighton & Hove. Whether you're hoping for a physiological birth, planning a medical one, or somewhere in between, I'll help you understand your options, trust your instincts, and feel respected and safe however your birth unfolds.
Support for all kinds of birth
There is no one right way to give birth. I support families through:
Home births, hospital births and birth centre births
Planned and unplanned caesareans
VBAC / birth after caesarean
Inductions
However your birth unfolds, my role is the same: to help you feel informed, respected and safe, with unconditional, loving support. My ultimate goal is that we all birth in the way that feels right for us, trusting our body and our baby.
